About Us

MEET THE TEAM

Chris Hodgson Engineering prides itself on untypically offering a design, manufacturing and build service from start to finish using its own dedicated and skilled employees.

It is a family run business that has been established since 1978 when it started in a corner of a field near Winkleigh, where Chris Hodgson built his first workshop and employed just two people.

Now with over 50 employees designing, manufacturing and installing buildings to a large commercial, industrial and agricultural client base across the South West of England, the diversity of the projects it handles are endless, from a simple 30’ x 60′ to individual project requirements such as a complete £1.5 million re-development.

OUR TEAM

Meet some of our team members below

Gareth Knight

Gareth is a Draughtsman in the design team at Chris Hodgson Engineering. With experience as an erector and coded welder fabricating steel framed buildings, he is able to put this invaluable hands-on experience to good use with practical design initiatives. Following a debrief from the Estimator and/or Contract Manager and utilising the information provided in the contract agreement, Gareth generates the project drawings. He uses cutting edge 3D design software which integrates seamlessly with all systems used by Engineers and Architects to develop these drawings, which will ultimately be deployed by the in-house fabrication/on-site fitting teams. As a matter of course Gareth ensures that the building design and spec meets the regulations. He enjoys conferring with architects, structural engineers and clients, offering design solutions by way of the 3D rendered models for them to peruse, which they find satisfying as it provides peace of mind for them that the end product will ably meet their requirements.

Shonagh Grey

Shonagh is most likely to be the person answering your phone call. If it transpires that she can’t deal with your enquiry there and then, she knows someone who can and will ensure it is dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Adrian Richards

Adrian welcomes your project enquiries. With over ten years experience as an estimator/buyer he is well placed to understand and relate to all manner of engineering project requirements across the Agricultural, Industrial, Commercial and Residential sectors. Following a comprehensive briefing to ascertain the projects purpose and specific objectives, Adrian will provide a detailed quote and in order to maintain continuity will follow this up to establish it meets the clients goals. He always remains a point of contact in order to ensure any exacting and finite detail is relayed to the design team.

Simon Hodgson

Simon oversees all operations at Chris Hodgson Engineering. He ensures there is department co-ordination so that the design, fabrication and logistics teams bring every project together cohesively. Simon is also keen to have direct contact with the client after the contract period, by liaising with them to ensure their expectations are being met.

Simon Bolt

Simon is our on-site measurement checker and when necessary the problem solver. He ensures that all the measurements are correct before the design and fabrication starts. This is particularly important when the project is an extension that will need to knit perfectly with the established building. Simon helps provide you with an additional benefit when using Chris Hodgson Engineering, of peace of mind that everything will go according to PLAN and on schedule.

However, he still has plans to continue expanding the capacity of the company and in particular the design facility, which already benefits from cutting edge technology. Although the driving force behind the firm, Chris recognises he has the support of lots of important cogs (people) in the work team, and the dedicated skilled workforce makes the business the success it is today.

You will find Phil talks the same language and due to his vast experience will totally understand your concept and be able to show you examples of other projects Chris Hodgson Engineering has undertaken. Phil will justifiably fill you with confidence that with the backing of his superb team he can ensure your project will be completed to a very high standard. Ruth will happily discuss your estimate in relation to your design needs, collaborating with the design team to provide you with exactly the building you had in mind and more.
